Hip-hop emerged in the early 1970's. It didn’t become interesting until 1999 according to me anyways. Thats when Eminem also known as Marshall Mathers, or nickname Slim Shady became popular. He is one of my favourite rappers. For more reasons then one, he doesn’t only put his emotions into his music with his words and tone of voice but he also attempted to get his music and himself into the world. Being a huge rap fan for most of his life, he began rapping at the age of 4. Rhyming words together and even battling schoolmates in the lunchroom. That brought him joy, although school was a painful experience. At 14 he began getting really interested in rapping, but it wasn’t until 17 that he actually made a name for himself. M&M which later then got re-spelt to "Eminem". Being rejected by most fellow rappers because of his race, Em grew an ager that flows through his music to this day. For that, I will forever love him. The anger and sad emotions he puts into his songs have drawn me in from the first album to the last. The first CD I have ever bought was Em’s Curtain Call: The hits. It was released in December, 6th, 2005. Eminem is only one rapper that has interested me into the rap game.
Hip hop has changed from before. In the ancient African tribal rhythms and musical traditions survived the shock of the transportation of millions of Africans as slaves to the Americans, and after 300 years of slavery in the so called Land of Free the sounds of Old Africa became the new sounds of black America. Rapping, the rhythmic use of spoken or semi-sung lyrics grew from its roots in the tribal chants and the plantation work songs to become, an integral part of black resistance to an overwhelming white society.
Eminem isn’t the only rapper that has changed hip-hop, Kanye West and T-Pain in my perspective have also changed hip-hop completely. Kanye Omari West moved to New York in 2001 to persue his music career full time as a singer/ writter. T-Pain has been rapping since the year 2000. To me he has started the auto-tune in hip-hops music. Its told that auto tune made him, since auto tune has been in effect I find that not only T-Pain is using it, but Kanye and other rappers like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj are using it to. I searched T-Pain on his auto-tune, and this site was updated June 2nd, 2011, it states that T-Pain has sworn off the use of Auto-Tune in his favour of his own branded "T-Pain Effect." That means no more crazy Auto-Tuned vocal songs from him. Its upsetting I know right, because Auto-Tune made hip-hop different from all the other genres. Well maybe T-Pain won’t be using Auto-Tune anymore, but that just gives everyone else the advantage of using it to the best of their ability. Although no one can beat T-Pain, not this year anyways.

T-Pain was tired of the borders that divides hip-hop and soul, especially since he was excellent at both. "I just got tired of turning on the radio and everything just sounding the same," remarks the Tallahassee, Florida native whose government name is Faheem Najm. "I know it might sound corny, but I wanted to try and make something different." After doing an unofficial remix of Akon’s "Locked Up," the African sensation signed T-Pain to his Konvict Music imprint.He also reveals truthful, and almost embarrassing, feelings for exotic dancers on the bravely stated "I’m In Love With A Stripper."
